Apple has announced the launch of its new iPhone 6 series models, including the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 6.
While there is a new iPhone model for every market, Apple is targeting a certain kind of iPhone user: “The world is your canvas,” Apple CEO Tim Cook told a crowd of executives in San Francisco.
“We’re here to help you create the best experience.”
Cook’s keynote was notable for its lack of surprises: he just said the new iPhones are going to be bigger and better than their predecessors, but there was no word about pricing or availability.
The new iPhones will be available starting in November, and the company has promised a “world-class lineup of accessories” for each of the new models.
The iPhone 6 models have a 4.7-inch display and a 6.7mm thickness.
The 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch screen and a 7.9mm thickness, and there’s a new model for each size of iPhone.
The iPhones will all have a dual-camera setup that includes an f/1.8 lens.
Apple has also added a “taptic feedback” sensor to the rear of the iPhone, which will let you swipe up and down on the screen to trigger a “lazy” mode.
The iPhone 6, 6 Plus and 6S all have new colors for the front and back, which are “light gray,” “luminous blue” and “lilac gray.”
Apple has added a second speaker on the back, along with a new LED flash that has a different color to the iPhone’s existing flash.
The Apple logo and a barcode will also be on the sides of the iPhones.
The new iPhones come in two sizes, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, both of which will come in either a 64GB or 128GB storage option.
The 5.6-inch iPhone 7 has a 4K display, and will be the only one with a 5MP camera.
The smaller iPhone 7 is expected to have a 5-inch 1080p display, but no specific pricing has been announced.
The 8- and 8.9-inch iPhones are expected to come in 128GB and 256GB versions, respectively.
The 5-megapixel Apple logo will be on both of the larger iPhones.
The rear of each iPhone has a fingerprint sensor, which Apple has said will work with Apple Pay.
The front of each of these models has a 3.5mm jack.
Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are expected in November.
The 6S and 6 Plus will be sold unlocked in the US, but a few other countries are expected, including Brazil, South Korea, Turkey, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
The larger iPhone 7 will have a 3G-enabled version, which is not the case for the iPhone 5s and 5c.
